For the past couple of years I have been shooting photo's for a local publication. Titled The Foothills Gazette they cover community events, news and high school sports for Whatcom County Washington. This past weekend I was asked to cover an artist studio tour and the Oktoberfest events at the Deming Log Show in Deming, Washington. I started with the studio tour and visited 3 separate artists, 2 oil painters and a glass artist. I am always interested in art and other artist, so this was a treat. All three galleries were at the artist residences adding an intimacy with the individual and offering insight into the life of other artist. I would recommend that you take the time to view there inspirational and motivating work online at www.lornalibert.com and www.chrisshreve.com there is no site available currently for the 3rd artist but her name is Heidi and see owns Mountain View Studios. Along Kelly rd between artist studios I came across a small family owned farm, the Bellingham Country Gardens. The BCG offers a farm stand with both already picked and u-pick fresh and natural fruits and veggies. While there I meet the very friendly and welcoming owners the Grubbs Family. I would suggest to anyone in the area to stop by before the season is over. They are located at 2838 Kelly rd off the Mt. Baker Highway, and make sure you say hello to Sam for me.. In addition to this I checked out the festivities for Oktoberfest at the Log show. Of course I had a bratwurst. I was also treated to the moving and traditional sounds of the Polkatones from Tillamok Oregon. With everyone dancing, drinking eating and laughing good time were being had all around. Enjoy the images and cheers to all.
